Product FAQ

  • 1. What is EasOtic?

Easotic is a veterinary medicine used to treat dogs that suffer from acute or recurrent episodes of ear infections (otitis externa). It contains three active substances: hydrocortisone aceponate, miconazole nitrate and gentamicin sulphate.

  • 2. What is the dose rate?

The product is applied using the integral pump which delivers a measured dose of 1ml per pump. The dose rate is 1 pump per day for 5 consecutive days.

  • 3. Is 5 days enough?

Yes, the product has proven efficacy with the unique combination of active ingredients achieving control and resolution of infection and inflammation after the 5 days of application.

  • 4. Is gentamicin a first or second line antibiotic?

Gentamicin is a concentration dependent aminoglycoside antibiotic and when used topically has a broad spectrum of activity that meets the requirements for responsible first line use. This is different to IV use where much lower dose rates must be used to protect the kidneys and the resultant spectrum of activity is narrow and restricted to gram negative bacteria.
